For those of you who process ducks. I have a question. Where do you buy your duck wax. I have heard from some people that duck wax is different than regular cello wax that is in the canning department. But the prices are so differing depending on where you look. Like 20 to 30 dollars difference in prices depending on the site.

What is your go to place for duck wax?

Also any information or techniques you use for duck processing would be great.

This will be our first year processing ducks. I have one Muscovy drake we are going to do by himself as a dry run so to speak but we should have about 20 more to go later in the year.

How do you process your ducks?

Do you dry pluck or use a plucker before using the duck wax? Do you have two separate scalders one for the wax and one for the water?

Do you use kill cones? Do you leave them whole or cut them up in the freezer?

Any tips would be great. I have processed many chickens and turkeys but this will be my first venture into ducks so I want to be as prepared as possible and have everything ready ahead of time.
