Can anyone provide any insight as to why my ducks quack and scream loudly and almost continuously at dusk for no apparent reason? They’re mostly quiet during the day unless they want a snack or hear my voice (through the window) but don’t see me. I have 1 female and 2 males (which I know I need to sort out when they are older but they get along fine for now).
They are 2 months old and have been living in their outdoor run for 1 week now. It’s 10x13 feet covered in grass (and mud!). They have pool and a house that they go into by themselves when it gets dark.
They seems very unsettled during the dusk to darkness phase. As soon as it’s dark, they go into their house and settle down.
Today I gave them lots of attention just before dusk and lots of peas and corn for treats but as soon as I left they started screaming for me! Is that just what duck do at dusk? They sound scared / upset but I can’t realistically sit in their run every night at dusk until bedtime!
Any ideas??
