The farmer saw the tire tracks from the truck and the imprint in the sand from the duck feet and the cage and knew nutters was missing. he looked at Penny and saw her broken leg,picked her up and carried her inside.Penny was scared but she trusted the farmer and knew he was just trying to take care of her. He set her an a counter top where he gently stretched her leg back so it was fully out .Penny quacked from it hurting but the farmer knew what to do. he put a splint next to her leg and wrapped it. Then he gave her a shot to prevent swelling, infection and pain and set her down back outside with lavender.

"Are you okay?" Lavender asked, the ducklings got on Penny's back and quacked.

The farmer got the keys to his truck and picked up Lavender,Penny and her babies and set them in the back of the truck and began to drive down the road looking for nutters and following the tire tracks. They drove down the road till the road came to a dead end the farmer was puzzled so he looked around. He saw that the tire tracks turned to the left to lead to a pile of bushes. He brushed the bushes aside and there was the road again it that lead on about five miles.

The road was too rocky for the truck so he had to go back.Penny had to find out what was up that hill so Penny traveled back up to where the farmer had to stop they started to walk up the hill.The rock where sharp on there feet. They continued down the road till they saw a log cabin with hounds tied up and furs in a big pile and next to there was Nutters! "Nutters!" Penny yelled ". "How are supposed to get him free Lavender?" Said Penny
