Gerald was all alone, like he always was. He couldn't stand being around others. How could he? They trusted eachother, they have been in a flock their whole life!
Gerald began preening his feathers, he began splashing the cool water from the lake onto his skin, this always relaxed him. He reached his head over to his oil gland, and began to cover himself.
He ended his cleaning session with a wingflap to realign his feathers.
"Clean at last!" He thought to himself, feeling satisfied.

Scarlet rode the currents as she watched all the other ducks having a great time, and wished she had a friend to hang with.
