I have 6 ducklings about 3 and a half weeks old to 4 weeks. They are currently on chick starter. I just changed them to a lower protein one of 18%. I have one specific duckling who seems to always walk on his feet which causes him to stumble and plop down. I notice him scooting around instead of walking. I’m worried. I just started giving them brewers yeast a few days ago. I sprinkle it on top of their food. Any suggestions as to what would help? Also how do I make sure that specific duckling is getting the supplements he needs? I also add the powdered vitamins and electrolytes to their water.

I suggest you switch their feed to one that is intended for ducks like All Flock Feed, Purina Rasier or a Feed Formulated for Ducks. I would also start them on Liquid B Complex Durvet Brand available at most feed stores, and start giving each duckling 1ml each every day over treats or orally until symptoms improve. While brewers yeast is great for preventing B3 deficiency its not the best for fast treatment like the B complex is.

Some people say niacin is in peas also. But I don't know the dosage or if it matters if its raw or cooked pease. (They say to not give them the peas frozen.)

I also recommend the Vitamin B Complex. One of my runner ducklings was doing the Frankenstein walk when moving about and collapsing/sittng frequently. I tried the drug store b-complex vitamins, brewer's yeast etc etc, without success. As soon as I bought the Liquid B Complex, her problems went away very quickly. It's also much easier to administer than the liquid b complex you get at your local pharmacy, as it's not viscous.

I'm glad to hear your ducklings recovered!

Thank you so much. I’m picking some up today! I usually give them mealworms as treats. Would it be ok to dip the worm in the liquid and feed it to them?
