duck sightings on lake Sunapee

we were pulling away from the dock, my wife spotted these guys feasting on what, I am not sure, I suspect acorns under water but could be snails or something else hard. I got alarmed that one or 2 had huge lumps on their necks until I realized it was wherever they were eating..like a snake. I'm assuming mallards? looked young.

ill keep up if I see more, got some loons, not like on Squam where we will be in a couple weeks, that is one amazing lake in general and especially for waterfowl.
