One of my nine week old Khaki Campbell ducks stopped eating and drinking this afternoon. Seems a little lethargic and her stool was watery and greenish. Keeps blinking her eyes like she is super tired. Seemed okay earlier today. Not sure if she might have ingested something foreign or just now showing symptoms of an ailment. Rest of the flock of five seem fine. Looking for some guidance.

Thanks!

Maybe she ate something toxic? Did you open her mouth and make sure it was clear? How is she acting now? Any better? Offer her a 'bath' and see if she will preen and clean her nares and maybe drink. <3

Oh no!! Keep us posted..I am no expert and learning day by day...I wish I had some advice , I hope your baby is ok. Definitely keep a close eye on her/him and if it gets worse, separate from rest and talk with a vet.

It is possible the baby has an internal infection. Get to a vet asap if you can, look into oral antibiotics. Try some apple cider vinegar in water, a tablespoon acv in a pint of water, see if that helps until you can get the duck on medication. You could also try activated charcoal (not cooking briquettes, those are toxic ... find activated charcoal at a drugstore it comes as powder or in capsules you can open), three capsules or a teaspoon in a quart of water. The charcoal is said to absorb some toxins.

Thank you all so much for your quick replies and suggestions. Needless to say, I was up late studying all I could find and was up at daybreak (my normal rising time) to scurry out to the duckhouse. I was very relieved to see that all symptoms were gone. I actually couldn't tell which duck was the one of concern as all five ate grain and lettuce and drank to their hearts content when I let them out.

All five are full of energy today though are all in the shade now as it is 85 degrees and full sun. Warmer than yesterday. I figure she must have gotten a reed stuck or something she ate disagreed with her. I must say that was my initial feeling but as the evening wore on she seemed to be more lethargic and I became quite concerned and obsessed with trying to get to the root of what might be her ailment so I could chart a course for treatment and recovery but nature saw to it for me.

But I will make sure I have all the necessary doctoring stuff on hand for the future.

Again, thanks to all for your concern and help.

Dont we all love when we see our babies back to normal again :D my most terrifying night ever was the day i had a massive arguement with my best freind. i came hope annoyed and upset only to realise my ducks were acting horribly strange. they couldnt walk properly and kepy spazzing then one of them started to fit in my arms and i swear at that moment i was trying to accept this was the end for them. it was soo horrible to see him spazing like that and i was soo helpless so i pet him back in his cage after he stopped, kiss them on the head and told them that i loved them and went to bed. in the morning i woke up and usually the first thing i do is from my bed call to them outside my window and they start quaking at me asif to say good morning but that morning i was soo scared to do it in fear that they wouldnt respond. eventually i just whispered it and through some form of miracle they were absoluetly fine and normal and quacking away loud and cheerful. i cherish ever day i have with my babies. GLAD YOUR DUCKIE PULLED THROUGH :D
