well I have 2 ducks a crested duck and a jumbo pekin duck and beginning of this month my jumbo pekin duck got bumblefoot the infection has been taken care of but he's still not able to stand nor walk. He takes a couple of steps then sits down again. He's alert, still curious and quacks like crazy when I come around. That's what he's always done since he was a duckling

here is some good reading https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/807777/bumblefoot-new-ideas-on-treatment-with-pictures also being a jumbo that's a lot of weight for a duck to carry around so I'd start giving water therapy daily even a couple times daily if you can. Maybe start by using warm water to get the muscle warmed up then as he begins using his legs good again just plain tap water,. also you might want to consider giving him so niacin in his drinking water, some ducks benefit by having some extra B's in their diet even as adults. you can get superB complex or plain niacin and mix it up in his drinking water it won't hurt your other duck if they are together. But main thing is getting those muscles built back up again. So water therapy and the B vitamins and see how he is in about 3 days, please post with results and or any more questions. and glad to hear the bumble has healed. On the water therapy you want him floating so he is using his legs but not having to stand on them yet.

Okay thank you for helping me out okay well I just bought some niacin how much do I put in the water since he does not really drink a lot of water while he swims. Also what I have noticed is that Hewy that's my jumbo pekin name. He swims with the foot that had the bumblefoot more that his other foot.

Put his niacin into his drinking water not the water he swims in. and only give him the niacin water no other. 200 megs per gallon. could be just the niacin deficiency that has him swimming like this, all you can do is give him the niacin and see if it helps. How did you treat the bumble foot was he on antibiotics? please explain. thanks

If its the bumblefoot that is bothering him. You can try putting drawing salve on it( AKA 20% ichthammol, or boil ease) and wrap it for 2 days. I soak that foot in epsom salts before I put the salve on. It works great. I read about it here on BYC but can't remember who to credit for it. I want to thank whoever it was, it really works. Wouldn't it be easier to ensure he getting his niacin if you added it to his food?

Yes when he had bumblefoot I was giving him amoxicillan for 6 days straight and i soaked his foot in Epson salt also and every night before I put him into his coop I would but ointment on his foot and cover his foot up with vet wrap everyday he didn't swim either so is niacin a powder form of because we have been giving him brewer yeast

Brewers yeast has niacin in it so depending on how much your giving him that should be adequate. A jumbo Pekin could probably have 1Tab on his feed, I mix a half a cup into a 1 gal bucket of fermented feed for my flock.
How is he doing any change?

Well he's moving his feet more now but I notice his balance is off. He tries walking and goes every which way

I'm stumped, can you take him to a vet? I know niacin dif can also cause neurological problems but only a vet to make a proper diagnose' s . How long has he been on the brewers yeast? may just need more time.

I cant take him to the vets i called all of them in my area and nobody takes them well I gave him brewers yeast for a week
