Excellent! More than that will cause trouble, how 'bout the anitbiotic? How many days left?I'm putting the iodine every 5 days
Ask the Vet to give you Baytril. This is hardcore antibiotic and will kick the infection hard. No idea what the cost is, but it can't be much more than treating with what you have been using over and over. At least ask and see what the difference would be. Baytril should clear this up, period. No more chancing secondary infections by cutting and cleaning the joints. Plus it should kill any that have gotten into the bone tissue, if it has. How is the temperature of the legs? Warm? Normal?Well he finished all his antibiotics already but I'm going to vet tomorrow to get some more just in case he needs them
Yeah, you need the Baytril...Look, if a scab forms, it should be fine to pull it off and get anything right underneath it. Don't go digging. Make sure everything that is going to be used is sterile and spotlessly clean. When it gets this bad, the risk of spreading the infection to more tissue is way too high to take the chance with. Pull the scab, I might even try some topical peroxide after doing so, wipe clean and then dry. Then apply the iodine. You also need to give this guy regular swimming time, feet off the bottom of where ever you can do it. Warm water. Poultry vitamins wouldn't be amiss right now either, he can use any help he can get to fight this off.Okay I'll ask for it because the vet told If I need amoxicillin she will give me the a second refill for free and I'll keep it just in case and if I give him baytril I wouldn't need to give him the knife and also how would the gunk come out? Also his legs feel warm
Is he walking good enough that he could have walked out of the yard? is your yard fenced?Okay guess I got home just now and I noticed hewy is not around my house I looked everywhere and I noticed my other duck is in the coop so I don't know where he went
