Like I said Drew Ducks, Baytril is the Acme brand antibiotic and can cure just about anything. Awesome!!! Now as Miss Lydia said, you really want to think about a probiotic to give him, but wait until the whole course, yes all of it, are given to Huey. I would be afraid the probiotic could interfere with the absorbtion of the Baytril and wouldn't risk it myself.

Another thing I was told and have read, you can give Glucosamine Chrondroitin to animals. Since most of what you can buy in the stores comes from chicken, yep chickens, it won't hurt Huey. Talk to the Vet, but I would give mine maybe 1/2 tablet, human, twice a week. You can also give him an asprin 325 mg once a day, if I remember correctly, if he seems to be in pain later on. Not now...let the meds work and get rid of the infection. Warm water baths will be the best thing for him now. Not only will they help with any pain, but they will allow more blood flow to the joints and carry any junk from the dead infection away.

I think the aspirin recommendations are mixed - not to confuse matters, just that there is some concern about toxicity in waterfowl, so I would hold off on that.

The glucosamine chondroitin - as far as I know - doesn't have any controversy about it, I have read that 500 mg per day (250 2x/day) for a Pekin-sized duck, is good for joints.

Okay guys today is hewy doin great he is starting to take baby steps little at a time and he stand a little :)

Does anyone know what this is?
My duckling was walking perfectly a few days ago, and suddenly she can't hold herself up. Her legs seem bowed and are looking quite painful/red/swollen. They are also in a really awkward position, kind of really spread out. I don't know anything about ducks. These were given to me by my sisters who got them at a market and suddenly decided they didn't want them anymore. I'm really concerned about the poor thing.

Every time she tried to take a step she kind of just flops on her face. But she was walking fine before today
