Duck trouble

Drew Ducks, what does the Vet recommend? Even bones that have been damaged will come back eventually. If it were me, I would be thinking about either a walker or a splint of some kind to get him through this. Also, if you do plan on doing this, you might want to think about adding some sardines, without salt, to his diet. Protein and added calcium can go a long way to heal the damage. I would also add a Cod Liver Oil capsule to his feed every day as well. You don't need a high dose one.

This will have to be thought about and understood that Huey may never be 'normal'. Doesn't mean he won't be happy, doesn't mean you will love him any less. It just means he will always be a special needs guy and will require extra TLC. My pea fowl are like that and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
These are pretty much my thoughts, too, drew ducks. A good diet, perhaps a walker or a splint. If he's enjoying life, let him enjoy.

Okay well the vet gave him metacam which is some for pain but when I give him it to him he can walk a little bit and I would never give up hewy he wasn't giving up and I'm not gonna give up on him he enjoys his life alot with his buddy

People often ask if they should "put down" a bird that has suffered major injuries. In my experience, birds appreciate the opportunity to recover. Ducks have an amazing ability to heal, even from injuries that appear to be catastrophic.

Glad that you are going to keep taking care of Hewey.

Well you'll have to see what they have and choose then, sometimes they have mallards and they do fly so you should keep that in mind. and of course Pekins, just be sure what ever you choose you supplement his feed from the start with either brewers yeast or niacin in the water especially if you choose Pekin. And introduce your new duckling when the time comes to your other 2 slowly. It's exciting going for new ducklings maybe you should consider 2 so the only wouldn't be lonely.
