My female Pekin started limping badly on one leg around Memorial Day. I took her to the local vet who said he didn't feel a break, and prescribed an antibiotic for what he thought was an infection in her leg. That did not improve anything. When I called back to tell him that, he said then she likely has a fracture or break way up in her leg, and there is really no treatment for that other than rest.

It has been a month, and there is still no improvement. I can't keep her completely immobile as she gets too stressed out. I have her in a very small penned area within the larger duck coop where her mate is. She moves around a little to get from food, water & resting area but that is it. Has anyone had any experience with this, any luck in healing? Any suggestions. Just feel so bad for her.

Never trust the advice of a veterinarian that does not specialize in avian care. I made that mistake once, he told me to put down my goose due to a fully treatable illness. My advice would be, get her some Sav-A-Flock at TSC and mix it with her water as directed every day. Get a pool where her feet can’t touch the bottom and try swimming therapy. Please keep us updated on her recovery process!

My Buff Orpington was limping around and has just stopped walking! Her left foot looks pretty hurt and maybe broken??! Last night I put her in a cage with some hay, food, and water. But I’m not sure what to do now. I also gave her some baby aspirin for he pain. The left seems to be swelling pretty bad❤️

Sadly enough he is a vet versed in avian. I will try that as well.

I also don't see anything called Save-A-Flock online. The only thing I see similar is this: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/sav-a-chick-combo-pack-supplement

Any ideas on my Buff Orphinton??
I’d try posting a new thread. It will come up as new and your problem specifically. All I know is, I researched and talked to and went to see all lots of local vets when my two week old poult came up lame recently - and all to no avail or resolution aside from putting him down. My last ditch effort led me to signing up with this site and posting a thread. The amazing community on here took time out of their busy day to- not only correctly diagnose something vets couldnt- but also to develop a nutritional plan going forward for preventative measures AND to fix his poor little leg. And I had a LOT of questions. They kindly answered them all.

I opened one and I’m hoping someone will give me some good advice. Thx so much for the suggestion!
I would bet the farm you get the guidance and help you need. With my thread- a video helped a LOT as you can see on the thread. It's helps them them get a better grasp on the specifics. FYI I had to upload the video to YouTube and copy the link to embed it in the thread.
