Duck with badly injured leg, beginning of infection. Advice needed!

Okay, I have her inside right now with her foot mostly unwrapped to let it breathe for a bit. It has a strong smell, even though we rinsed it out with saline water and put more vetericyn on it. I really need some help because I am leaving home on Thursday for the weekend and I will not be able to take care of her then.

I am calling vets in the area but so far have not found one that will take ducks. Will keep looking.

You could also try a little peroxide, but only use it once. From what I've read, it's safe for limited use, but does more harm if overused.
Also alot of folks do Epsom salt soaks. Maybe add some to a bath for her. But don't let her drink it, it's a laxative to them.

Good news: I finally found a vet within a reasonable driving distance that takes exotic animals such as birds! They open at 7 am tomorrow, so I will call and see what they can do. However, I would still appreciate advice from y'all in case they either can't take her or it is way outside of my budget (I love her, but I have other expenses that I need to pay for, like a family visit and travel expenses for my new rescue dog arriving in July.)

I would try penicillin from tractor supply if the vet won't treat her or is too expensive. Maybe the vet will prescribe her some antibiotics if they can't see her. You can order antibiotics on ebay, but it takes weeks to arrive.
I would soak her in Epsom bath (don't let her drink it), keep applying neosporin, and try to get some penicillin. TSC usually has it in a fridge around the horse supply aisle.

Keep us updated :fl
