In my lagoon there is a wild duck with a broken wing. This duck is completely wild and hates any human interaction. Its getting picked on and will obviously not survive the winter. Im trying to catch it but when I do I'm not sure what I should do. Should I keep it inside or with my 4 domestic ducks outside? Also what do I do with the wing I have no vets near me that will take care of duck, and I think the wing is already healed. Let me know what I should do. Thanks.

If it's at all possible I would try to get him so you can check him out real good make sure there is no infection. If the wing has healed and it's not normal the duck most likely won't be able to migrate which would probably be a death sentence for it. So you have choices to make, catch the duck check it out and keep it with you separated from your 4 ducks for at least 2-4 weeks just to make sure the duck is healthy other than the wing. Or catch and call wild life rescue in your area and ask them to come pick up the duck.

Bless you for caring!

If the ducks wing healed broken he won't be able to survive even in captivity?? the duck is a mallard so it stays in the lagoon all year.

He could survive. I would worry about bringing wild ducks onto my property due to the risk of diseases they could bring with them.

ok thanks
I know you're probably bummed, and you want to help, but I think the best thing to do is contact a wildlife rehaber and get them out there. Keeping it yourself is an option, but it's not legal in the US, and you would have to weigh the risk vs reward. If you did manage to catch it, having it tested for bird flu might be a good idea. We'll support you with whatever decision you make. :hugs Thanks for caring about this duck.
