Duck with five webbed toes

Someone emailed me with a picture of their Muscovy duck with five webbed toes. :eek:

I told them it was probably an unusual deformity. No bird naturally has feet like this. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

If not, I just thought I'd share these pics (with permission) in case anyone is as intrigued as I was. I've never seen such a thing before.

Thanks. I was not aware of the technical term. It seems the owner of the duck has added two of the pictures to Wikipedia recently. I guess they learned about the term too (originally they called it "special feet" and seemed to think it was an unusual breed of duck, if I recall correctly). Polydactyly seems to be fairly common among humans and cats, but I can't find any other instances of a polydactyl duck.

My gosh that’s a unique scovy. It kinda reminds me of Silkies as they have so many toes.
