Hello!
I have a problem with a young Pekin duck of mine. This is a male duck, approximately 9-10 weeks old. He is pretty large compared to my other Pekin and Rouen ducks. Lately, about a week ago, I have noticed that he has been coughing. He does not cough while eating. but occasionally while drinking. He probably coughs 5 times every minute or so. Additionally, he seems to be sitting down more often than the other ducks, keeping his mouth open, almost as if he is panting. Maybe I am over-reacting, but it sounds to me that he may have gapeworm. When giving him treats, he sort-of trembles a little. This may be out of excitement, but trembling is a sign of gapeworm, correct?
The cough is almost like a human sneeze, or wheeze. When he is just sitting, his breathing sounds like its stuffy, like he has a cold.
If gapeworms, what to I do? How to I treat, and keep the worms away from other chickens/ducks?
