2 days ago I noticed my 9 month old Welsh Harliequin duck shaking her head a lot in the coop. I don't know exactly what happened. Maybe the 2 drakes were fighting over mating her and someone grabbed her face instead of her neck. I've been keeping her with everyone else the last 2 days but bringing her in twice a day for a clean bath in the tub so she can clean out her eye. I have Neo-Poly-Bac opthalmic ointment that I've been putting in. It wasn't as swollen before but now I can't even get her eye lids open it is so swollen. Any other suggestions?

If your first treatment didn't work and it's getting worse, you gotta break out the hard-hitters. Are you able to get your hands on any vetericyn or sulfa antibiotics? And you mention baths, but are you offering a saline rinse to help curb excess bacteria and soothe it a bit? Poor girl, that looks awful nasty. :/

Info on the Sulfa powder:

Package weighs 107g
Package contains 94.6g of Sulfadimethoxine
Package is therefore 94.6 ÷ 107 = 0.88 = 88% pure (12% filler)

A friend of mine weighed it and a teaspoon weigh 3 grams.

Not positive, but I think the dose using this powder is 1-2 teaspoons per gallon, but don't quote me on that.

Oh...sorry, I sorta assumed the dose was based on the packet, not the water intake. But then again, I've never treated a cow. :p Did your old roomie ever treat her horses with the stuff?
