Duck with side of face swollen.

Hello.

My gf and I bought some baby ducks about a month ago. A couple weeks ago, we noticed this lil duck with all this swelling going on. We think it’s an infection, but not too sure. We been thinking about getting some antibiotics for it, but wanted to see if anybody might know anything else to do/try.

If a vet's an option, I'd go that route. If you search this site for ducklings with swollen cheeks, you'll find quite a few threads, like this one. Best wishes for your duckling's recovery!

Our Peking duck has had this swollen face for two years now . We took her to a Veterinarian for birds and they aspirated and gave her antibiotic. We gave the liquid drug with a syringe two times daily for a month and we squeezed to drain the area which would come out her nose. It still would not go away. Lab tests were done for fungal, but they came back negative. Four hundred and fifty dollars later the veterinarian said she did not know and the duck needed to go to someone else to have exploratory surgery and her chances would not be good. So that was a few years ago, we chose not to put her through surgery. She lives everyday with this thing on her face, but she runs around , swims, eats everything in site, and enjoys her freedom each day with her duck companion.
