Hello, I just received some Welsh Harlquen Ducks. They were free range all day and night on a creek in KY and fed whole corn and snacks. They are almost a year old. And one (the silver female) seems to have a crooked neck. I just now noticed. We got home with them at midnight after a 4hr drive home from picking them up. Dumped them in the pen where their duck house was. Went back this morning and noticed it's neck after a few minutes. It's acting fine, ate, drank and foraged. It won't come to me yet or I'd feel the neck. Trying not to chance them and stress them out since we just got them home, after a long car ride. My reason for posting is to find out why it's like that, and is it of concern, can I fix it?

Welcome to BYC! Once she is settled in catch her and give her a thorough exam.

Hello..I had receive a rescue Duck that looked like that. She had gotten her neck wrung by a Fox that was on a killing spree..In time it went back to normal...Possibly who ever caught her did so by the neck?..
As long as she is eating and drinking..She will be fine.

Get them some really good balanced feed and keep the corn for a treat. They all need a good balanced diet. An All flock or [Mazuri water fowl feed if you only have ducks] and can afford it] Purina Flock Raiser is a great all flock feed.

Congrats On your new ducks they are gorgeous.

Mealworms make a nice treat for getting acquainted.

:welcome

Thanks every one! I'm so excited went out this morning and two beautiful eggs waiting for me! I was planning to feed them more than corn, I bought a layered pellet chicken feed because that's what our local tractor supply recommend. Is this ok? And whole corn, meal worms as a treat. I caught the female this morning and ran my fingers around her neck. She dint act like it was uncomfortable, it wasn't hot or swollen. I could feel her neck bones kinda and it feels like she just has a crooked bone? So what now?

If there is no obvious sign of recent injury then I suspect she will be just fine. The feed will be fine too, though you may want to think about adding some brewers yeast for the extra B vitamins that ducks need. You also might want to offer free choice oyster shell in a side dish.

All of my ducks get 16% lay pellets, so IMO, lay pellets are perfectly fine for ducks that are laying.

Congrats on the eggs!

Edited to add:
Metzer Farms suggests feeding laying ducks a feed with 17.5% protein, 3% calcium, and 0.4 % phosphorus. Your layer feed should be right on target for calcium and phosphorus but will fall a little short on the protein.

Tip - Read the ingredients on your bags of feed and check date codes to make sure they are fresh bags of feed.
