Pekin duck (almost 2 months) seems paralyzed. Started with limp almost 2 weeks ago, now can not walk whatsoever. Does not scoot or flap to help her get around... Just lays in one place. No injury visible anywhere, no bumblefoot, infection or swelling.... Stools looks normal, honks for me to bring her food so she eats and drinks, but has lost all movement in her legs. I feel at a total loss. I gave wxtra naicin, electrolytes, tried baths to relax her, separated her.... It only seems she has gotten worse with no improvement. I am at a total loss. I feel so bad for this sweet little girl. The rest of the flock is healthy and strong and when she was out there as the weak duck the older ones began to pick on her. Her brothers and sisters sit with her but the older ducks single her out... So now she has been inside to keep her confined and safe for about a week. I am a mother of 2 and work full time and I am just exhausted with this. I have absolutely no idea what to do, but I know I can not have a duck inside forever honking all night that can not eat or drink on her own and needs changing every few hours. I have contacted the fowl and wildlife center and I can't afford the costs of the vet bill to bring her in. Any suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated. I don't know what else to do.

I'm really sorry to hear that.

It sounds like you've done all you can do. It is probably either paralysis or just that she is a pekin, and pekins can grow so fast their bones can't keep up. If she is not showing any improvement, and it isn't anything to do with broken bones or spraddle leg, then there may be no choice but to have her euthanized.

Its really sad, we had to do that just recently to a sweet bantam chick of ours that was paralyzed. Paralyzed birds just don't live good lives. They can't move or feed on their own, they can't interact with their flock, and they are likely to suffer other health problems because of it.

Best of luck with your birds. I hope she gets better.

I hope this helps: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/707595/progressive-paralysis-in-young-muscovy-ducks

Thank you for responding! I really appreciate the support, guidance and suggestions.
I have been afraid that may be what's best and it seems to be so. There is zero improvement. Still wants to eat and drink but only lays there and does not even try to walk whatsoever.
Does anyone know or have recommendations on the best... Least painful most peaCeful way to help an animal move on? This is going to be challenging.....

Well if this is your pet and you don't want to use an axe, you might research carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide is a product of combustion. I am sure you have heard that operating a camp stove or a vehicle in an unventilated space is deadly.

The axe is better though. It's quick and you won't inadvertently kill something else in the process. Or you can take the animal to the vet for a lethal injection.
