Hi there,
I am a duck owner in southeast Michigan. I have 6 juvenile ducks: an 11 week old female cayuga, three 7 week old welsh harlequin drakes, and a pair of 7 week old blue runners. I am currently deciding whether to add females to my flock or rehome 3 of my drakes. I am VERY hesitant to rehome though, for the simple fact that I dont want my guys to end up being used for meat 😫

I read about people keeping a second coop and duck area for extra males. Without females to compete over, they don't fight. I had the same issues as you when I got ducks. I ended up giving my extra males away, but I contemplated it for a bit. It would require the extra space to be able to do it. We even got extra females thinking we might keep more than one male, but still kept the one male. Duck math does make things interesting. Best of luck on your decision. Many of us have been right where you are.
