Duckling attacked by coopers hawk.

Is the duckling aware of its surroundings? Able to walk?

It appears to be acting completely normal now.It ate a little bit a food.Will see how it is tomorrow morning.Really surprised the coopers hawk didn't kill it.

Glad it's alright. Not much anyone can do if its internal injuries. Sounds like it got away.

Maybe it bit the hawk, and it is not lucky duckies blood?

Probably not ... but seems lucky!

Possibly it opened its mouth to scream, and in the scuffle it scratched it's tongue? Have you pried opens its mouth/bill for a look?

More than likely the hawk was scared off by something ... and will try again ...

Yes, I was going to say that you'd better cover that run if there are hawks around because they will be back! Can you look inside his mouth and check to see if you can see any injury?

As long as it’s able to eat, drink and walk around. There’s not much you can really do for it especially at that age.
