Hi, I've started breeding ducks after having 2 females and a drake, I've had a few chicks naturally and a few where incubated and I sold all but 2 and was hoping to keep them since there both hens and give them to my uncle once they start to lay. There about 3.5 weeks old and I've placed one of the chicks with all the parents and now the male has started attacking her. he's chasing her and starting to bit her neck and grip it. I'm not sure why as my females have no problem with the chick. If anyone has any advice please let me know I'm really unsure of why this is happening.
Thanks

Get a new drake.

Some roosters are chick aggressive--maybe they're trying to kill he chicks because they want mama to go broody again so that they can fertilise more hatching eggs, or because they just don't like chicks, or maybe because they think they should breed with the juveniles.

Whatever the reason behind the behaviour, it's not something I would ever tolerate in a breeding male, rooster or drake.

Because the parents do not see them as *theirs*... 3.5 weeks is way too young to put with full adults, please separate them immediately before she is seriously injured... once they are close to same size as the adults/closer to laying, then introduce them with a wire wall between their areas so they can get to know each other without reaching for a while before trying to put them together again...
