I actually rehomed the trouble makers. I still have four ancona but they don't seem to be doing that. I'll go down to two females later this week.Hi Wobbles, are they still doing this?
I've read in a couple of places that Anconas have more complex flock behavior than other duck breeds with a more sophisticated ability to communicate. From my understanding it's usually the females that are in charge of the flock instead of the drakes, so they may just be trying to establish who the boss of their little flock is. I wouldn't really worry to much about it at the moment, but I'd keep an eye on them especially when they go outside.
I was actually considering Anconas when I decided I wanted to keep a few ducks so I read up on them a bit. Good luck with them... they're adorable!
