Duckling bill vibrating up my arm.

My Black Bibbed Call duckling, Sugar, who is a month old does that to me. She snakes her head up around my arm then vibrates her beak against me. She's the sweetest thing. When I have her in the tub, she stays in for a short amount of time then she begs for me to take her out. She wants to sit with me and give me loving. The others are friendly and immediately come running to me, nibbling on my fingers looking for treats but Sugar is something special!

I love it when My duckies do that. My daughter and I both think it is just so cute- sometimes we even pretend to do it each other

But only ever at home of course- I dont need the general public thinking I am so weird.

I once had a duckling that wouldnt stop- he ended up climbing onto my shoulder doing it to my hair.

In my experience, it is almost always a bossy girl duck behavior. Keep track and let us know if this duckling turns out to be a large and very in charge girl

. Sometimes, in the Spring, this behavior can be followed by a nip once they're adults.

I've never seen ducklings do it, but my adults do it to my dogs when they're running them off. I can get them to do it to me when they're all riled up by shaking my hand at them and pointing at them.

So temperamental...

this must be something differnt then what my ducklings do, they seem to be grooming themselves, eachother, etc, i have never seen any sign of aggression like that,
though i may be wrong

Duck to duck, the quiver is usually followed by the neck flop....where the dominant duck puts their neck over the other duck's neck. It usually isn't "mean". Just kind of a pecking order gentle reminder I guess....LOL

By buff mutt used to try this on me all the time. I would just pick her up and tell her "you're not the boss of me!" LOL

She STILL thought she was the boss
