My duckling was started pipping 24 hours before he came out. He was upside down and did not hatch in the airsac. When he came out i noticed he still had his yolk sac after 5 hours none more has come it and it has stayed a grayish color i have him in the incubator wrapped in towels the bottom half of the shelf remaining. I don’t know what else to do, has the sac died? Do i need to worry about food and water i have heard about sugar water?

Welcome to BYC! Is the yolksac still there?
Please upload a picture of your little one and the yolksac as it is now...

Did you assist hem hatching?
Try t make sure he doesn't get to cold.
People I know had very good results with wrapping ducklings with unabsorbed yolk in clingfilm...

That said, your yolk sack looks very dark, but the picture is not that clear for me.
Others might have other and/or additional advice.

So I call in some of the duck experts here.
@Wyorp Rock @Isaac 0 @BirdsBeesTrees would you be so kind to assist?

Thank you for your help should i leave him in the incubator then when do i need to start worrying about food or water he’s at about 45 hours since initial pip

I know people think different about the feeding part.

Personally I would wait a little over 24hr after external pipping before I start to worrying about food intake.
I provide food and water a little earlier and most of them start when the feel they need it.

I love the Saran Wrap idea!
This is what I did the time before last:

I tried an open sandwich baggie! It kept them moist but from contamination or from ripping open the yolk sack. It worked great for me too.
I'll try your way some time!
