Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
Since you asked .. I just bought the biggest tote I could find at Target. about a foot and a half by three foot. And, runners are pretty lightweight ducks, so they fit -- with "field trips" in the spare bedroom -- until they were old enough to move outdoors in the spring.
