Help! 3 day old duckling chocking, seemed like I caught a glimpse of soft food? Held her and massages upwards- Some food came up and out, but she’s still foaming at side of mouth and bobbing head. Only an occasional peep and I’m starting to get really worried. I’ve held her beak open and tried to see but there’s foam and I do t want to push anything down. A mini version of this happened last night and I dunked her head in water- she seemed to work it out and was fine in under 2 minutes. We’re almost 20minutes in now. What to do now???

Let her drink water. Keep water access open.

Sometimes they will work it out.

Keep their food really soft for awhile. You can also break up and mash their food a bit more for a few days while they work it out.

Whoa that was a nerve wracking experience. Really had to work her throat with upwards massage. Nothing more came out but she’s better. I had taken a rolling pin to their feed last night!and set it in a piece of egg carton. I now have it in a mason jar lid mixed with plenty of water, like a slushy. Water is still full and access is still free. Thank you for the response. (First time raising poultry, lots more learning to go!)

Usually they will choke every now and then but you'll see them clear it up right away. Its when it doesn't clear up that you would know to intervene or not.

I saw a duckling choke just a week ago a nd you'll see them sort of throwing their head and neck around to clear it. Then they'll be fine not long after.
