An abandoned wood duck of all things. I've called the local wildlife place, they do not have a duck person (budget issues I think) and they referred me to the local shelter (they have a wildlife division of sorts) and they told me if I am managing to basically go ahead and keep doing that. Or bring her in. They didn't seem to care either way. I asked about laws- and from all that I have gathered I cannot sell her, or kill her etc...since she was found on my own property all the places I have called seemed unconcerned. Actually surprised that I have gotten her to eat and drink. She is eating waxworms (i think some people call them wood grubs- they are pretty tiny) and she gobbles those up, sips her water...I will be adding mealworms tonight. Tiny crickets eventually too but will try to get her on starter during all this. But the bugs have been the only thing she will eat right away. I suspect she fell from one of the nearby trees (since we have a pond). Didn't even know we had a wood duck over here- never seen her on our pond. She also has a mirror, a stuffed cat and a feather duster (real feathers)- which the wildlife lady recommended. Would never have occurred to me. Totally worked! She snuggles right into it- next to the mirror.Where did you get your lone duckling zooweemama?
