I'm so excited I put some duck eggs under my friends broody hen and there in the process of hatching. I can't wait to see what the ducklings look like. The mother is a Buff duck and The father is a Cayuga.

That is exciting, now hang on because ducklings don't hatch as fast as chicks do.I'm so excited I put some duck eggs under my friends broody hen and there in the process of hatching. I can't wait to see what the ducklings look like. The mother is a Buff duck and The father is a Cayuga.
I'm very excited this is my first time. So I'm not really sure what to expect.
I would love to leave them with mama hen but I'm just scared there's a lot of predators out there
They will be cute that's for sure. Let us know when they hatch, you can take them as soon as they fluff [dry] or if in a secure coop you could give them a couple 3 days to recover from hatch. They won't eat for 24 hrs after hatch living on the yolk sac.No there not my 1st their parents were my first. They are my 1st ducklings to hatch though. I'm getting the brooder aka my bathroom ready for them when should i put them in there ? And I'm just so excited to see what they are going to look like it's a cross between a Cayuga drake and a Buff Orphington hen does any one have any ideas of what they'll look like?
As soon as they hatch and fluff i'll be taking lots of pictures![]()
