i have noticed on my duckling that he had white spots in his eyes. One worse than the other and I’ve been paying attention to it to see if it got worse. Today I noticed he can’t open one of his eyes! When I try to open it there’s a white gooey like thing on the lid that moves with it it’s puffy ! What should I do?

Do you have any Terramycin eye ointment? Vetericyn spray? saline eye wash?

How long has it been like this? other ducks/chicks I with it and could possibly been poked in the eyes?

does it have a water container deep enough to dunk its head in to clean it's eyes and nares out?

Where could I get some of those ? There’s a possibility he scratched it he scratches a lot but if he has mites, like I’ve read, wouldn’t my other duckling have it too? His water bowl is deep enough for his nares and I let them swim a lot

Feed store for first 2 and you can make the saline by mixing 1/8 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of nice warm water you can rinse his eyes out with this but if you don't notice any difference by tomorrow I'd got get the ointment

What works for me is Miss Lydia's formula for saline, but the way I apply it is like this: using a q-tip, dip it into the saline, then gently roll the cotton head on the side of the salt water container, so it is wet, but not dripping. Then I gently rub the eyelid, parallel to the slit as gently as possible, using the lightest pressure possible. It doesn't take long for the contaminant to be rinsed out, and the eyelid can open by itself. Then a tiny dab of antibiotic ointment is applied into the corner of the eye.
This may need to be repeated.
