Niacin deficiency is certainly a common problem with ducklings. The fact that they were teary, going blind, and dying 2 or 3 days after showing symptoms is all strong evidence some other issue is present. From context i presume the ducklings died far to young to be caused by niacin deficiency.

They started the complications in their fourth week.

Yes, they would be old enough, they may have been suffering from niacin deffecency, but the eye symptoms would still be unexplained. This link has a picture of the contourted legs caused by niacin deffecency.

@Karkville what feed we’re you using with your ducks an ducklings?

The eye problems could have been just a side issue of niacin deficiency. Or because of the def their immune system wasn't able to fight off anything. Poor babies.
