Duckling has milky discharge??

I just recently rescued an abandoned duckling and I’ve had him for a little over a week now. Things were going great until today. He seems completely healthy and the only behavioral change I’ve noticed is he’s stopped pecking as much (normally he would would peck me constantly). He keeps having what looks like a milky discharge come out of his butt. Earlier in the day he kept opening his mouth in a strange manner but I checked and there is nothing stuck that visible at least and it has stopped. I’m just really worried about the liquid bc it’s never happened before and I haven’t seen any solid poops from him all day. Please help!

What are you feeding the duckling? Is it's appetite good. Drinking and eating normal?

Yes, he was eating and drinking just like he should and I was feeding him duck food from the store. (Made sure it was unmedicated). Sadly he died the following morning but I still want to know why.

I am sorry you lost the little one. Might have been sick before you rescued it. Maybe why it got left behind. You did all you could for the little one.

Only a necropsy would tell why he died.
