Help, I’m new to hatching ducks and our first duckling has pipes but it was nearly 24 hours ago and she hasn’t made any progress since ( she hasn’t started zipping or making the whole wider. We can hear her tweeting and see a little movement through the whole be I’m really worried, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ducks can be very slow hatchers. Sometimes it takes them up to 48 hours from the time of the pip to start zipping. As long as the membrane isn't yellowing and she's still moving around and peeping, etc, I wouldn't worry yet :)

Here is a photo, it’s still tweeting but hasn’t made any progress

As long as the duckling has air, it is fine. Ducks are in fact slow hatchers. Rushing the hatch when he is not ready could cause the duck to bleed out.

I've had duck eggs take as many as seventy-two hours from external pip to hatch. Never had a single one take fewer than twenty (that I know of. I don't stand over every hatch with a stopwatch.)

So far, this sounds completely normal, and as though he's settling down for a short rest. Have any of the others pipped?

It been about 26 hours since the first pip, it hasn’t gotten any farther and it is getting slower in its response
