Duckling having seizure???

He survived the night will call the vet as soon as they open to see if they think the same and get medicine see what we can do for prevention for the rest of the fluffers or maybe they will need treatment aswell so far no one else is showing any symptoms thank goodness it's super disturbing when they flail around like that I dont want to immagine 10 of them doing it.

I am so glad to hear he made it through the night!! Have the seizures stopped/does he seem to be doing better? Good idea to bring him to the vet- but i would make sure you bring him to someone who specializes in farm animals as my normal dog and cat vet has given me false information before.

I hot ducklings last night and honestly they are not in great shape one with a gimpy leg and now this little guy is he having a seizure?? Will attach video ducklings have nutritional yeast added to food and the best I could find for a niacin supplement added to their water.(a liquid b complex) any advice is appreciated on what more to do. Can you overdose on niacin?

Hi, seizures in ducklings can be caused by a various amount of things, ingesting toxins, vitamin E or Thiamine deficiency, neurological (Common with crested ducklings), or a viral disease. If you can take the duckling to a vet, I would. If you can't, or your vet has no experience with poultry. I would probably start the duckling on thiamine and vitamin E, this is assuming it is a nutritional problem which seems to be the most common out of all possibilities, It does concern me that it may be neurological since she has a crest.

Thanks for the responses everybody waterfowl vets appear hard to come by but I did find one hours away who would do a phone consult and I sent pictures and video. So far she feels it is not a toxin or bacterial infection felt we would see signs in all ducklings quite quickly if it was. She felt the duckling with the leg issue was more an injury and the little guy with the seizures is some other neurological thing or possibly hypoglycemia/b vitamin deficiencies/failure to thrive.
She said it really is up to me on both but said if there is no improvement by tonight with vitamins and basically hand feeding and watering she advised culling.

Currently they ride around wrapped in towels and stuffed in my shirt while I go about my day.

Summary of the situation they seem to have come from a poor breeder taking poor care of them and I have a touch of bad luck.

I am so glad someone has given you some answers- I hope this has given you some peace of mind. Just checking in- how is he doing? Does he seem to be getting better and have the seizures stopped?

Some peace of mind but wishing I had researched where they were coming from better. Not so much seizures now but wobbly on his feet and tends to fall and flip onto his back I guess the vets see it quite often they just call them "flips" . He has a little donut he sits in made out of a towel if I'm not carrying him in my shirt.

Are you offering him feed/water often?

Yes as much as I can I also have feed and water available for him to eat and drink from his little donut nest but he does best being held steady to eat and drink.

Interesting I suppose the 2 in the worst shape are crested there is one more in the group who I'm keeping an eye on. I did not order crested ducklings guess they just threw them In the group...

The duckling flips onto its back, can't get up, and kicks its leg repeatedly into the air? I agree with your vet, try treating with vitamins for a while and see what happens before culling.
