Resistance to sulfadimethoxine develops readily. Because resistance can develop easily it is usually given with a second antibiotic in humans to cut off any potentially resistant bacteria.
If you already gave this today, I recommend that you complete the 5 day course and not switch them to Corid after 1 dose.
However, I understand that what is actually practical also has to play into what you do. I will not judge you harshly if you need to switch then to corid in the water.
Something else to consider.....
While a bloody stool like you showed us is a classic symptom of coccidiosis, knowing that they have been on medicated feed gives me pause. It's not impossible for them to develop coccidiosis while on medicated feed, but I would be surprised.
If it is not coccidiosis, and is bacterial in origin, then the sulfadimethoxine is a better treatment as it will kill bacteria. Corid does not treat bacteria.
I swear I'm not trying to confuse things but I am trying to share what I am inferring from the information provided.
I suspect stress is the cause. She has been stressed with Shenai (sorry, I am sure I am spelling that wrong). It takes a little bit after the stress response for 'things' to build up to a symptomatic level once the immune system is weakened by stress. No swelling this time, and I’m not sure of the cause for the flare-up, it’s not real dusty in their run or coop.
