My husband is totally out of his element but marching off to convert our wooden shed into a residence for our month-old ducklings today. We have 14 Khaki Campbell Ducklings that have been sleeping in the house at night. My question is....beyond what is absolutely essential, what do you love having or wish you had in your coop? We have to cut windows and cover with hardware cloth, allow some kind of door for access into the run, partition off the inside, create hangers for heat lamps and come up with our feed/water area. We have a wooden floor.

One of the best things we did is cover the floors with sheet vinyl easy to clean and will protect wood floors. We also found windows at Habitat and covered in hardware cloth. My dh made pop doors and walk in doors from scratch.

Tip: Make sure to add plenty of ventilation in your house in winter it will help release moisture build up and in summer help cool The more windows the better. South and east facing. Although I do have a window in the north side too.

Under the water i put the top of a tupper ware lid it prevents the water that they spill from getting in the bedding. You also might want to buy a bag of pdz. Those ducks will make the coop stink fast.Good luck:)
