Duckling not moving

I had a white crested duckling that was peeping wiggling and moving around this past Sunday. I monitored him after I noticed no noise or any movement after 48 hours of nothing and not breaking into the aircell at all I decided to break him open and saw the yolk sack was still attached! Did I kill him or was he already dead?! My other ducklings hatched today

Sorry about the one you lost but congrats on the others. Crests are a lethal gene if both parents carry it, so it may not have survived anyway.

All my other white crested died except for that one and when i did the eggtopsy it looked as if his eyes were not fully developed. I hope I did not kill him, it seemed that he was not going to make it :/

I also have an egg unzipping but it seems that it is taking him a little longer, he is right on time for hatch but I feel like he is stuck. He's about halfway or a little more it looks like

Did he make it out? How long has it been since the initial pip?

It's going on about 48 hours, should I help him out? I can see him he's moving and chirping

40+ hours is not abnormal, but 48 is pushing it. As long as he's moving and chirping, I'd wait until he seems distressed. But I know its hard to wait. You really should go with your gut feeling at this point. Sing to him, talk to him, play chirping sounds for him! Keep him active, if you decide to wait. Can you post a pic?

Oh no! I'm so sorry. Had he absorbed any of the sac? Do you have more left?

The chick I hatched is dry now and I was wondering how far away should the heat lamp be for a red 100w bulb? It's about 13.5 inches away
