I ordered 6 Campbells and 4 Cayugas from Metzer Farms today!! I'm excited! But, does anyone know how long shipping will take? Thanks!

I think it varies on what postal zone your in. Hopefully someone with more Knowledge will tune in

It should generally arrive 1-2 mornings after they are shipped. I ordered from Metzer and the ducks were shipped on Tuesday morning (monday was a holiday) and arrived at my local post officeThursday at 8 am (thats when they called me anyway)

I called my PO the morning that the ducklings shipped to inform them that I was expecting them and would appreciate a call when they arrived. They took my info and called me when they did arrive and told me they were holding them in the manager's office. All were safe and sound and I am in Florida.

You could go on the USPS website and estimate the shipping time. I would expect that you would ge them on Tuesday or Wednesday morning since Metzer ships on Mondays.

If you are located in a more rural area I would talk to your local PO sooner and see where the local hub is (it will likely be a FedEx hub). It seems when I have read of day olds getting "lost" they get stuck at the hub. Others have said that they were able to pick up at the hub.

Good luck and congratulations.

I would seriously recommend you calling your post office the day you get confirmation that the ducks have been shipped, telling the post office the estimated arrival date and to be sure to call you when they arrive. I don't trust my mail man with delivery times, so I drive to the post office and pick up the ducklings the minute I get the call they have arrived.

If you don't get a call the morning the ducklings are supposed to arrive at the post office, get on the phone and call them. Sometimes they get busy and forget to call you. You want to make sure the ducklings are all alive when you pick them up, so be sure to remove the shipping bands from around the box, open it, and make sure they are all fine. If for some reason one or more are dead, a filing a claim with the post office is necessary for Metzers to reship you some more ducklings.

You will love your little ducklings soooooo much!!!!! I have three four month old Welsh Harlequins and have ordered also from Metzers a pair of Welsh Harlequins and two Khaki Campbell females due to arrive here on March 8th. I can hardly wait to see them!!!!

Metzer should email you when teh ducklings are shipped so you can be prepared for their arrival.

I've never had it take more than 2 days, but there is no controlling what the post office does.

I go into my local post office a few days before to tell them the birds will be arriving. My local post office keeps a list of people expecting birds and their phone numbers. Your phone number should also be on the box of ducklings.

My post office calls me at 5 AM and I scoot on down there as fast as I can go to pick them up.

Have your brooder fired up a couple of days early, so you can check temperatures and make sure it runs perfectly. You don't want to discover problems after the ducklings have arrived.

This is only true of hatcheries that INSURE the delivery of live ducklings with the post office. if the package is insured you have to count and report your losses and register the claim form while you are at the post office.
Metzer and other large hatcheries are so confident in the vitality of their stock that they find it less expensive to replace losses at their own expense than to purchase insurance for every single box. At least that was the case last year. Double check the FAQ on the site to be sure what their replacement policy is.

Probably depends on where you live. But probably within 1-2 days. I ordered them and they arrived the day after they were hatched and shipped, so obviously for me very quick. But I also live in CA, which is where Metzers is.
