I'm already counting available square footage!I knew you would do a good sales job on the tanks. Now everyone will want some.
That's great! Let me know if you have questions about getting there or if you need help in general. I always happy to helpAwesome!!!!! Toledo os actually MUCH closer than where I was driving.
It was actually my wife who insisted to have some white ducks. I did not want to have Pekin ducks because of their size - we also have tiny, slim Runners - and their often occurring leg and joint problems, so we got the White Layers. They are like Pekins but in a smaller package…I knew you would do a good sales job on the tanks. Now everyone will want some.
The »tank-duck« comes from the time when my Spring Ducklings were joining my four grown up Indian Runner ducks outside: The Runners were not very pleased that they have to share their home with the "newbies", there was a lot of biting and wrangling going on until the White Layers figured out that they are actually larger, heavier and stronger than the Runners. From then on they just walked straight to wherever they wanted to go and pushed the Runners out of their way like tanks push through brush. Therefore »tank ducks« or the »white panzer duck squadron«.I audibly cackled at "tank-duck" I know it probably is duckie lingo, but totally thought of the old world war II Duplex Drive tanks, which were nicknamed "Donald Duck" tanks..... which perfectly describes Basil as she runs. Lol
I call it »quaxing« because it is not really a "quack". It is more like a "peep, peep, peep, quax" when they start to develop their voices. Look at the video below ~1:30 in when i hand meal-worms to my ducklings and you will understand.I googled quax to give a definitive answer, to no avail. I'm sorry. I'm 3.5 weeks into duck lingo.![]()
That's pretty cute, I hadn't noticed that before.I call it »quaxing« because it is not really a "quack". It is more like a "peep, peep, peep, quax" when they start to develop their voices. Look at the video below ~1:30 in when i hand meal-worms to my ducklings and you will understand.
