Duckling unable to stand

It’s not letting me add a video for some reason?
We added a small elastic band to his legs a few hours ago (as from what I’ve read splay leg is possibly the issue?)...with the band on he instantly flops forward onto his stomach and just kicks his legs behind madly, unable to move other than wriggling. However, we have just taken it off and he’s standing and walking so much better already, on his feet not his legs like before, so have put it back on.
Is there a reason he cannot walk with the band on? Horrible to see him flopped down but the band seems to be working...
Some of them have a hard time figuring out how to walk with their legs taped or banded together. Post that video when you get a chance.

I feel it's a good sign that he can move his legs at all! Hopefully he will gain some strength as he starts eating real food instead of relying on the yolk. Do you know if he had any problems with hatching?

He’s getting stronger and stronger, I think it will just take some time. He’s eating and drinking. Yes they hatched from the small end of the egg, took over two days so was difficult I think

I had the exact same thing with a gosling last year. Peeper took forever to hatch, malpositioned and I had to help in the end. Took a good 2-3 days before he was correctly upright and moving around the brooder. He came good in the end and was a fab little chap. We just had to be patient.

That’s reassuring to hear. Sounds very similar to this little guy. He’s is moving around much better and upright (hatched on Friday)but occasionally goes back to pushing himself along on his stomach so keep correcting him and standing him up to encourage

Duck starter should have enough niacin in it for your ducklings. I guess it still wouldn't hurt to add some Brewers yeast to the feed, especially till the little one is up on his feet 100% . I'd not add the niacin tablets though.
