I'd like to hear what other people say, too, but I think I would leave his legs un-hobbled and I might also change the towel to a no-slip shelf liner. Let me see if I can find a picture of that.

Thank you. He was doing the splits 2 days ago so has made big progress. He isn’t usually on a towel, this was just temporary instead of the skippy table whilst I videoed

I will do tomorrow. They’re currently in a small animal cage, lined with paper towel and shavings and with a Brinsea Ego Glow brooder

I suspect your paper towel and shavings are too slippery for this one. I know that many people do this, but every now and then one will hatch and need something that they can get better traction on. I get one or two a year that are like this, and for them, I line their brooder with the shelf liner and they are usually better in a day or two. Until these ducklings can walk normally I keep them off of slick surfaces, like hardwood floors, paper towels, newspaper, linoleum, etc.

Nice thing about the shelf liner is you can wash it by hand and wring out the excess water, so it makes it easy to keep their brooder clean.
