Duckling with broken beak. PLEASE HELP!

I've never seen anything like that and the fact that it happened is crazy. I really hope the poor guys beak grows back. Keep us posted!

Thanks for all your live and support! today is his one week old birthday and He's doing great. I messaged the chicken chick on FB as @inmybackyard recommended, and she gave me suggestions for otc treatment and said his beak will probably grow back as he gets older. He gets lots of love when I'm home, but when I'm gone I give him a mirror so he doesn't feel as lonely (otherwise he peeps like crazy!). He likes climbing on my shoulders when I sit down and sits in my jacket pocket too. Everyone at home has fallen in love with him. He still hates swimming (first duck I've ever had that does), but I give him baths anyway.
His chances are much better than they first were. I never knew that such a young animal could adapt so well to such a crippling injury, but I guess he proved me wrong! So proud of him!
Thanks again for the love and support!
And @alexwilko , so sorry for your loss. I had an indecent with a neighborhood dog who got into the brood box. Killed almost half my poor babies. I felt terrible and guilty about it, and still do, which is why I was so upset that I thought Saimon would die. Be glad for the ones you have though. :)

Good on you for caring, for getting the information you needed, for befriending the little guy, for sharing his story. Thanks!

How did you deal with the neighbor? Have they done anything since to keep their animals under control and out of your yard?

@nayeli it wasn't my neighbor's dog, just a stray who wanders around this area. We call him Lucky, but he doesn't have an owner. It was an honest accident and caused by my own negligence. Believe me, I cried for a good while over the loss, partly because of the guilt I felt. I have taken extra precautions to keep the remaining ducklings safe though.

Just to keep you guys updated if you're interested, today is one week since Saimon's injury, and he's doing well. He's gotten much bigger since, his beak is completely scabbed over and beginning to recover, and he just today began eating solid food. I tried giving him the water mix but he doesn't seem to like it anymore. Soon he'll be big enough to walk around the house and maybe even go outside. He will probably be a house duck though (I like him that much :) ).
Thanks for all the support and love and advice! I'm hopeful of a full recovery.

What a cutie! He looks so much better. I'm so glad you kept him and took the time to care for the little one.

Did it ever recover? I just had a similar issue recently!
