Unfortunately, she died. I have two more khaki campbells acting oddly with their heads shaking and them not wanting to walk very much. I fear that they will die soon. I have been feeding them purina flock raiser, so shouldn't they be getting enough niacin? I added nutritional yeast to their water today in hopes that the deficit is what is causing this behavior, and it will be corrected, but I am a little worried to be honest. I don't really understand it. I have them in a brooder with plenty of water and food. The temperature is adequate. Maybe it's a little too warm right now, but I have little chicks in with them as well, and they are making no effort to move away from the lamp leading me to believe that they are not too warm. (However, these ducklings are only about 4-5 days old now.) I had an ancona duckling die because of this behavior earlier, that's why I'm so worried. I found her at the same time as the khaki campbell. So, just a little frustrated. We only have the two khakis left. I have ordered ducks to come in and I have more duck eggs incubating, but I just don't understand what I have done wrong for them to die.
My aunt's duck has this going on with her eye anyone have a clue..?
I tried washing the outside that was matted with gunk with water and Oxide solution and added it to her pool that she used to use for her bath, but she's not used it in a couple of days for some reason. My aunt worries that she is going to leave us soon.
What in the world is going on.. duckageddon with us lately!
Sorry you lost the duckling. Can you post a video of the remaining ones? To post video you have to upload to YouTube or Vimeo them copy/paste the link here.
For the one with the eye problem, can you catch her a take close up pictures of her eyes?
I'm sorry, that's all of the picture that I have. There is no puss or purulent drainage coming from the eye, it's just thick clear liquid. I irrigated it today, cleared it out, and again washed the outside with Oxine. She was laying two days ago, and is now not laying so she's clearly distressed by it and I can understand that. I'm hoping that the daily washings are helping her. I saw in another thread someone said something about Neosporin. I may try that. I also saw someone say something about eye drops at TSC that are on locked and you have to ask for them, I will ask about those, as well. I would like this bird healed.
If I had to guess I would say she has a sinus infection, which means she might also have a respiratory infection. If she were mine I would treat with antibiotics.
