Hi all,
I have a duckling who just hatched this morning at 8.25am (the last of 5 eggs to hatch) he had unabsorbed yolk still attched to his belly and it was gooey and yellowy/pink.
I didn't know what to do so took the other ducklings out of the incubator and left him to recover.
The yolk is now harder looking and a really deep red almost black. He's not very perky at all and just moves his head up and down a bit. It has also taken him so much longer than the others to dry off and get fluffy.
Is there anything I can do to help this guy? A breeder suggested snipping it off but the cord its attached to seems really thick and I'm adament to do that.
I'm just about to leave for the night and I really want little Rocky (the fighter) to survive.
Any help would be appreciated!
