I hatched some Khaki eggs for a friend and one of the ducklings hatched with a leg issue... one of it's legs extends straight out to the back. I have been giving it Poly Vi Sol drops(no iron) and tried to sling it up but that didn't work.

I need suggestions on how to fix this or if it's fixable. The baby is very healthy otherwise.
thank you guys.

Is the hock joint looking normal- or might it have a slipped tendon? Also what about the foot itself- is it scrunched up? If these are both normal it could be an issue from the hip.

the "knee" looks fine, i can flex it with no issue. i checked the hip joint and it feels the same as the other side buy she cries if i rub it or feel it so i am guessing it must be a problem there. the foot is a little "folded up" but she will try to move it away if i pet it, but she peeps, like it hurts.

could it be a painful deformity in the hip?

Thanks for the photos Bleenie- it really helps to see something when trying to help out with suggestions. Poor little guy- such a lovely colour.

You could try putting something onto the foot to open the webbing out- I have had great success with about 5 ducklings using sticky pads on the soles of there feet. It makes them use the ankle joint properly which allows them to get the leg underneath them as well. Some of the thick double sided tape with the backing left on one side might work- what I use is sticky pads made for human feet on mine and cut them down in size.
