Duckling with strange leg

Hi all,

One of our ducklings has a strange looking leg. We havent noticed before today so not sure if its and injury or something progressive?
Seems to be weight bearing and walking around although sometimes a little wobbly
She has brewers yeast everyday and peas twice a week with usual crumb
Is there anything i can do to help?

Looks like a slight fracture in the knee joint? Or possibly deformed if you didn't notice it before?
If pain is involved a vet can help or try and wrap it?

Would you suggest maybe trying to splint it back into a straight position? How long would i need to keep it on for?

Does it bend or fused? When young the cartalige is soft so try and see if loose or fused?

Its loose, doesnt seem to be fused. You can bend freely.

Try vet wrap for a couple of weeks and make sure it's straight at the joint when wrapping. No swimming till after removing the wrap.

A popsicle stick cut to size and wrapped first in cotton and then wrapped with vet wrap should provide enough stability if you can get the joint straight. On both sides of the joint.

Welcome to BYC. Looks like it *might* be perosis (slipped tendon).

Let me see if I can find a thread that shows how to splint it correctly. If you think it might be perosis, look at the picture here, this chick was splinted by a vet. Yeah, it's not a duckling, but that does not matter. Splinting incorrectly will almost certainly cause more harm than good, which usually means death for the duckling.
