Duckling won't/can't walk

I don't know. She only laid 2 eggs and one was infertile or went bad. This is only her second nest from what I understand (the first was at previous owner and it was unsuccessful) and maybe she's just inexperienced. Anyway, we didn't try to candle them like we did with Xochitl because we were afraid she'd abandon the nest too.

Thanks for the reminder about the nutri-drench. I found some at the feed store that's about 25 miles from me. The one that's closer has something called acid-pac 4 way. From what I can tell it looks that the acid-pac is for the digestive tract and nutri-drench is for boosting immunity.

Well lets hope in a couple more days you see some significant improvement in him, it takes a while for the antibiotic to take hold. I've never heard of acid pac which may be good if the antibiotic caused stomach upset. but the NutriDrench will help give him a boost. it's a long way to go I know. Our Tractor supply is 50 miles round trip so i do most of my buying online our feed store carries nutridrench for just about everything but poultry and when I asked if they could get it gave me the run around so I got the small bottle at TSC and ordered the large bottle online.

Are the ducklings eyes cloudy looking? It looks like it in the one picture. I'm dealing with an 8 week old chick that doesn't want to walk and what I've been reading up on points to Marek's Disease. One of the symptoms is foggy eyes. I really hope that's not it but it's something I noticed about the picture. :(

OK. So I'm back from my 50 mile round trip to get the nutri-drench. I don't know if it comes in any other form but I have the 4 oz bottle w/ the dropper for adding to water. Whew. Hope this works.

It has been so nice to have someone hold my hand and walk me through this

. Thanks again.

Sorry I forgot to answer you 3lilbirds! I checked his eyes and to me they look clear. I did have a flash when I took the picture. Maybe it was a reflection?? I just got through w/ another go at getting him to eat. I hope it's not my imagination but he seems a little perkier. And Lydia, I gave him a drop or so of the nutri-drench directly.

Good for you. do this again before bedtime and as for perkier yippie !!!

If I can get a little video of him on here later I'd like to see if you can tell if he has labored breathing or if it's normal. I lack the experience to know for sure.
