Ducklings and chickens

Yes I just bought 2 ducklings and 9 chicks and nothing has happened they are about 1 week and a half old so they should be ok for when they are little but when the ducklings start getting older you are going to have to separate them cause the ducks will be mean to the chicks and it also depends on what kind of ducks you are planning on getting

Hello I am New to BYC. I was wandering would chickens and ducks get along when they are older because I have 2ducklings and 9baby chicks together right bow but I am not sure when to separate them????? Thanx LOL
despite the chickens having the sharp beaks, my ducks have their own little way to fend for themselves. They grab the chickens feathers and twist to pull them out when the chickens are bullying them! I have kept them together, but i prefer keeping them apart. Ducks are a lot messier, and so when they are seperate the chicken coop only has to be cleaned once a week, but the duck coop every other day. If possible, i would seperate them once they are half fathered out...thats when they start trying to swim in everything!!

Found this thread after trying to decide what to do about the ducks making such a huge mess of the brooder. We have four chicks and three ducklings in the brooder together and the ducklings make such a mess that the bedding goes rancid in a very short time. Our fix is going to be putting the ducklings in the bathtub and then re-cleaning the brooder for the chicks. Once the ducks are old enough to go outside they will, and this is the last time I ever have ducklings in the house.

lol, those are my mom's exact thoughts! I have to clean it everyday, but she is great and lets me keep them in my room :)

thanks for all the replies. for some reason i didn't get notifications for those.
I did decide to put the ducklings with the 2 chickens for a little bit and they while they were curious for a while they soon decided to form their own groups and not mess with each other. I did this a few times until i was comfortable leaving them outside together for a while day while i wasnt watching. After a few days i put them together in the chicken coop at night. They are very happy together and when i move the chickens and leave the ducklings alone they start screaming now even tho i dont see them together at all during the day and when i open the coop in the morning they are sleeping in separate spots lol
