Hi, i need some answers/ help. I had 5 beautiful ducklings that were hatched by one of my ducks about a week ago. They were all healthy happy and showed no signs of illness. 20 minutes ago I watered them and when I came back 2 were dead and 2 more are seizing and dying.

I don't know what I did wrong as I've done it the same way many times before raising my birds with no issue.

I'm absolutely devestated and shocked at how fast things deteriorated. Literally in a matter of minutes.

Any input at all is appreciated.

It was room temp. Should it have been warm to the touch? It's been very hot so I though it would be better than warm :(

If they were deprived water for some period they will gorge on the water. This can kill them by lowereing body temp or electrolyte imbalance. Other poultry dont drink that much water so it does not happen. Siezing is the typical symptom followed shortly with death.

I am afraid I don't have any answers for you - I just wanted to say how sorry I was that you lost them this way.

:hugs
